Ten Foods for a Longer and Healthier Life

We all know that foods are sometimes linked to fads. Sure, there are still those who enjoy a frozen yogurt, box of Cracker Jacks or thoughtful main course of cheese, meat or chocolate Fondue! The down side is that over time, fad foods are often conspicuously missing from a list of healthy foods! In other cases, a particular food is acclaimed to provide some healthy element to a diet, and yet it is subsequently found to be detrimental in another way – take margarine, for example. We, as consumers, often find it difficult to identify foods which provide the short-term enjoyment of taste, along with the long-term benefit of sustaining life.

Professor Gary Williamson, Professor of Functional Foods at Leeds in the UK , has developed a list of “lifespan essential” foods that he asserts will help prolong life and make it a generally healthier one as well. Filtering the entire list through a law of health revealed over 175 years ago known as the Word of Wisdom, it is proposed that the following ten foods maximize a person’s chances of living a longer life, as well as increasing the quality of life by reducing the possibilities of incurring certain diseases.

As with all good things in life, these items should be ingested with some moderation and common sense. The underlying common thread among these foods is that they are all rich in something called polyphenols, which are naturally-occurring chemicals in plants. Recent studies have concluded that polyphenols have antioxidant characteristics that may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and various types of cancer. Professor Williamson noted, “These foods have been chosen because they are highest in polyphenols, which reduce the risk of heart disease and help to slow down ageing processes. Epidemiology studies support the protective effects of polyphenol-rich foods. Lack of these components in the diet, because of low intake of fruit and vegetables, increases the risk of chronic disease.” So, enjoy the color, the texture, the flavour…and above all, enjoy life!

1.   Apples

2.   Blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, cranberries

3.   Oranges , peaches, plums

4.   Broccoli

5.   Cereal bran

6.   Cherries

7.   Dark chocolate

8.   Spinach

9.   Red grapes and red onions

10. Cherry tomatoes

Larry’s Training Tip: The Triceps Beautifies Both Men and Women.

It is widely accepted that both men and women appear more physically fit when their arms are toned. Generally, men work their arms to achieve size and mass, along with definition. Perhaps in our culture, this is a sign of strength, ability and dominance – even dominance over the sedentary lifestyle of the larger population! On the other hand, women work their arms to achieve toned, lean muscle mass. This seems to translate into a woman who is determined, disciplined and balanced. Whatever the adjective one chooses, both men and women benefit in their respective “fitness appearance” by focusing on their arms within a disciplined exercise routine.

You are invited to reference Larry’s “Sharing the Secrets” Training Reports to access a veritable gold mine of fabulous insight, training tips and corresponding photos. For example, Training Report #11: “How To Add An Inch To Your Arms...In 45 Days”, outlines three different exercises used in sculpting truly beautifully arms. These unique movements are:

The Cheat Supine Triceps Press with an EZ curl bar

The Kneeling Triceps Extension with the medium height pulley

          The Free Hand Triceps Extension.

Although women are usually less interested than men in building size on their arms, the insight gained from this report has been utilized by many women who simply want to tighten and tone the Triceps region of the arms.

Using the right “tools” is part of the secret in achieving extraordinary arms. Of course, these “tools” equate to equipment, and boy o’ boy does Larry have you covered there…a V shaped Triceps bar ( or “V-bar”) about an inch and a half in diameter. It may sound like we’re being particular, but just wait until you try it. You’re going to experience an isolated burn like nothing else. In fact, you’ll be amazed at the results!

How To Add An Inch To Your Arms...In 45 Days”

If you only knew how many different configurations of this bar I've tried before I came up with this final version... this one is worth its weight in gold!

1 Each leg of the bar should be at least 8 inches long.
The diameter of the bar should be at least 1.5 to 2 inches. A thinner bar will not allow the pure burn during the last few reps. Furthermore, the smaller diameter bar won't allow the pleasant shift on the palm position, needed for superior burns. The angle of each leg of the V bar should be no more than 30 degrees off a straight line. When the angle is steeper, it's much more difficult to get pure triceps action and too much stress is placed on the wrists when the angle is flatter. This angle is just right! You’re going to get more out of this one piece of equipment than you could ever dream. You’ll love it!

Construction: High industrial quality round tubular steel
Size: 14' length, 1.5' diameter Weight: 4 lbs
