When you're feeling gassed in the gym lactic acid in the bloodstream is a common reason. Stamina helps neutralize lactic acid and protect ATP which is your muscle's fuel. Not only will you feel your "second wind" in the gym but you'll also feel refreshed instead of burned out afterwards.
